I’m going to agree with Kevin on this one in re: Victoria Clark. The role had been significantly changed since the London run, but changed in a very good way. Her character and relationship with Patina grounded the whole production and gave it the emotional punch that it was missing. Her new song was absolutely beautiful in the second act and there was SO much more heart to the show.
I loved Sister Act — one of my favorites, because it felt like a classic Broadway musical to me. And the story actually “sang” which a lot of the other musicals that opened this past year didn’t.
